Poetry From The Soul

"Poetry From the Soul"
by MPR c2006

Climbing the stairs once again,
Settling myself onto my bed,
Igniting into a smoke filled room,
While words race through my head.

Never writing a single word,
Nor remembering thoughts so deep,
The wonder of all the people I love,
My eyes begin to weep.

Emotions surfacing from within,
Relief of a heavy sigh,
Poetry from the soul racing again,
Wiping tears from whence I cried.

Creation of a mind since I was small,
Blessings from a highborn God,
While kissing life with a second chance,
Praising His staff, Thy holy rod.

To embrace each day is to live on,
Even though I am not whole,
Each battle won through compassion and love,
Until finally my stories are told.

Dwelling from within for the mind is weak,
Sensations not yet shone to me,
Wrestling such moments to inhale a breath,
'Twas a life that was meant to be.

Decades have gone since a fateful day,
With few memories lingering in thought,
Each day appears with a new remembrance,
One less battle has just been fought.

New rivals appear before my eyes,
More challenges must be won,
With thoughtful prayers from near and afar,
Someday His will shall be done.

So I climb the stairs once again,
Deep thoughts forever playing a role,
Settling myself onto my bed once more,
Creating poetry from the soul.
