Necessary Deceptions

A light that burns
candles in my sleep
and drown themselves
in waxy deeps.

A breath I lost
some time ago
memories forgotten
but in darkness know.

Fleeting engagements
with all so near,

the surface, oh so paper thin
protected by fear projected from within

the shaddows of blue evaporate on cloudy nights and left
with only myself, I consider distracting thoughts that
occupy me necessarily.

And with a breath I've found
the strength to rise
and put behind a life of lies

I'll start again fresh today
and try to lie a better way

While candles burn in my midst
the flames on which my eyes are fixed.
I thought of love when I chose to deceive and you'll
know that love when I choose to leave. devilinsideya
