My Tiny, Long Sound

Would you hold my hand
If only I reached?
Walk along the cool, calm sand
Upon every waking beach?

How would you gaze
If I held you close and tight?
On those self-reflective days
Each way, and every night?

I wonder if youd sigh
And just tell me how you feel?
Or how youd feel, if Id die
Would you harden up like steel?

Ever one more question
Without one more answer?
An ever-rhyming section
A rhyme to spread like cancer?

But how, I wonder,
Could we be?
As we are, ripped asunder
Just you, away from me

And it tears in twain
All of the ways I try
I stare, lost, in vain
And harden not to cry

As you are, so much
Meaning so much to me
Aching for your welcome touch
A child upon my knee

But mayhap its not to come
As much as I long,
What are the fruits of some
Unfinished, sad, drowned song?

See, perhaps we might
In days ahead, of lore
As I remember each passing night
Regretting more and more

Youre not here, where I wish you were
A thread, entwined, of prophecy
A little one, small, slender,
Just one of you and me

I wish youd understand
How I cry, pour out my heart
Tie up the wound, cheer in a band
Hell, its one way to start

So together we bring
Light to anothers life
And if you want, Ill sing
Sing over any wound, or strife.

My feelings arent in a Word
They cant be downed
But, mayhap youve heard
In this, my tiny, long sound.
